Consumer Credit Counseling

Often called CCC, consumer credit counseling was designed to help those consumers who not only were unable to repay their debts, but didn’t know how to manage their finances or pay their bills on time. Consumer credit counseling creates the possibility of repaying debts without the assistance of bankruptcy. This type of debt relief educates the consumer about budgeting, managing credit, and prioritization of funds. Under new US bankruptcy laws, a consumer must undergo credit counseling with an approved provider before filing for bankruptcy.

Consumer credit counseling is third-party assisted (TPA) and will have a long term affect on your credit profile. While your actual credit score may not be directly affected, your future credit reputation will be. By law, a TPA debt relief provider must report to the 3 major creditor bureaus that you have entered into their program and that they are in control of your finances. Because they will be paying your bills for you, a tag line will attach to each debt entered into a program of this nature and will give future lenders the impression that you don’t know how to pay your bills on your own. Be prepared that you will be treated as if you have filed Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Expect questions and concerns until that notation is removed from your credit report. A lender will not approve any request for credit while a consumer is in any third party assisted debt relief program and may require you to remove yourself from the program before considering your request.

Debt settlement is an option available for consumers looking to reduce* their debt quickly. It is not for those who don't know how to manage their money, but for those without enough money to manage. Thousands of dollars can be saved when debt settlement is deployed as a means of debt relief. Typically, consumers using this process are free of their unsecured debt in 18 to 36 months, with savings of 60% or more.

A brief review of your current unsecured debt situation, could determine whether or not debt settlement is the debt relief option for you. Simply request a consultation and a debt consultant from National Debt Resolution will contact you to discuss your situation and our program.
